Ciekawe ujęcia czekają w całym Trójmieście
Rozmowa z Olivierem Spilleboutem
Po raz pierwszy w Trójmieście odbywa się polsko-francuski festiwal Transfotografia. Prezentowane w jego ramach zdjęcia można oglądać w klubach, kawiarniach, na Dworcu Morskim w Gdyni, a także w Starej Cukrowni w Pruszczu Gdańskim.
Małgorzata Michalczyk: Słyszałam, że masz korzenie polskie…
Olivier Spillebout: Drugi mąż mojej mamy jest Polakiem. Gdy byłem mały, przyjeżdżałem do Polski z mamą i ojczymem na wakacje. Cztery-pięć lat temu przyjechałem do Sopotu…
To dlatego w Trójmieście zorganizowałeś festiwal fotografii?
- Zakochałem się w tym pejzażu. Zauroczył mnie Sopot. Spacerując ulicami, ciągle widzę ciekawe ujęcia. Stwierdziłem więc, że to idealne miejsce na zrobienie tego typu imprezy. Zwłaszcza że w przeciwieństwie do Krakowa czy Łodzi, w Trójmieście do tej pory takiej inicjatywy nie było. A ja uwielbiam organizować. Czuję taką potrzebę.
Sam też fotografujesz?
- Tak. Są to portrety, ale nie pokazuję ich na festiwalach, których jestem organizatorem. Oddzielam te dwie rzeczy.
Francuska edycja festiwalu już się odbyła. Nie było na niej zdjęć Polaków. Czy w ogóle planujesz pokazywać wystawy „Teraz Polska” i „Świat dookoła” w swojej ojczyźnie?
- Trójmiejski festiwal Transfotografia rzeczywiście składa się z dwóch odrębnych części: polskiej i francuskiej. Prace Francuzów były już wcześniej pokazywane, ale tylko w formie multimedialnej. Można więc powiedzieć, że jest to ich debiut w postaci wystawy. W przyszłym może to wyglądać zupełnie inaczej… Wtedy na pewno projekt „Teraz Polska” będzie przedstawiany w Lille.

Pour la première fois, le festival franco-polonais Transfotografia se tient dans la Trójmiasto (Trois-Villes). Les photographies exposées dans le cadre du festival peuvent être admirées dans des clubs, des cafés, à la Gare Maritime de Gdynia, ainsi qu’à l’Ancienne Sucrerie de Pruszcz Gdański.
Małgorzata Michalczyk : J’ai entendu dire que vous aviez des origines polonaises…
Olivier Spillebout : Le deuxième mari de ma mère est Polonais. Quand j’étais enfant, je venais en vacances en Pologne avec ma mère et mon beau-père. Il y a quatre ou cinq ans, je suis revenu à Sopot…
C’est pour cela que vous avez organisé un festival de photographie dans la Trójmiasto ?
- Je suis tombé amoureux de ces paysages. Sopot m’a charmé. En me promenant dans les rues, je vois constamment des scènes intéressantes. J’ai donc pensé que cet endroit serait parfait pour organiser ce type d’événement. D’autant plus que, contrairement à Cracovie ou à Łódź, aucune initiative de ce genre n’avait encore vu le jour ici. Et j’adore organiser. J’éprouve un réel besoin de le faire.
Vous êtes aussi photographe ?
- Oui. Je fais des portraits, mais je ne les expose pas lors des festivals que j’organise. Je sépare ces deux activités.
L’édition française du festival a déjà eu lieu. Il n’y avait pas de photographies polonaises. Avez-vous l’intention de présenter les expositions « Maintenant la Pologne » et « Le monde autour » en France ?
- Le festival Transfotografia de Trójmiasto est effectivement composé de deux parties distinctes : l’une polonaise et l’autre française. Les œuvres des photographes français ont déjà été présentées auparavant, mais uniquement sous forme multimédia. On peut donc dire que c’est leur première exposition en tant que véritable galerie. L’année prochaine, les choses pourraient être différentes… À ce moment-là, le projet « Maintenant la Pologne » sera certainement présenté à Lille.

For the first time, the Franco-Polish Transfotografia festival is being held in the Trójmiasto (Tri-City). The photographs featured in the festival can be seen in clubs, cafés, at the Maritime Station in Gdynia, and at the Old Sugar Factory in Pruszcz Gdański.
Małgorzata Michalczyk: I’ve heard that you have Polish roots…
Olivier Spillebout: My mother’s second husband is Polish. When I was a child, I used to come to Poland on vacation with my mother and stepfather. About four or five years ago, I came to Sopot…
Is that why you organized a photography festival in the Trójmiasto?
- I fell in love with this landscape. Sopot captivated me. Walking through the streets, I constantly see interesting scenes. So I decided that this place was ideal for hosting this type of event. Especially since, unlike Krakow or Łódź, no such initiative had yet taken place here. And I love organizing events. It feels like a natural need for me.
Are you also a photographer?
- Yes. I take portraits, but I don’t show them at the festivals I organize. I keep these two things separate.
The French edition of the festival has already taken place. There were no Polish photographs. Do you plan to present the exhibitions “Now Poland” and “The World Around” in France?
- The Transfotografia festival in Trójmiasto is indeed composed of two distinct parts: one Polish and the other French. The works by French photographers have been shown before, but only in multimedia format. So, this is their debut as a full gallery exhibit. Next year, things might look different… At that time, the “Now Poland” project will definitely be presented in Lille.
